This interactive workshop will help you understand the importance of networking, develop new networking strategies, and give you the opportunity to practice your networking skills in a fun and relaxing environment.

After the networking 101 workshop, grab a slice of pizza – or 3 – and chat with your peers for some unstructured networking using the strategies you learned during the workshop.

On the other hand, if you need some downtime to scroll socials and recharge your social battery with some good pizza – that’s okay too (you do you!)!

Are you wondering how to promote yourself to Canadian employers? In this interactive workshop, you will learn about the major categories of skills that employers tend to look for. You will also work on identifying skills you developed in your previous experiences so that you can highlight these as you apply for jobs. Finally, you will ways in which you can engage in new experiences to develop your skills.

Listen and interact with a panel of Concordia alumni who were once international students. Panelists will share their experiences and offer advice, including their path to success and the struggles searching for a job outside of Quebec and relocating to a different Canadian province.

Learn the effective job search strategies that worked for them and how they successfully tackled the Canadian job market. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain insight into what life after completing your studies has in store.

When: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Identity, home, and belonging are often wrapped up in so many different and complicated layers. For many of us, this often involves multiple geographies, two or more peoples, places and cultures. During this writing workshop, we’ll examine the complexities of our diasporic identities through writing prompts, storytelling exercises and caring conversations. We’ll answer – or at least ask better questions – of what it means to live in between cultures. 

We’ve designed this workshop to be intimate and generative with writing prompts that will spark your creativity and give you the time and space to share your story in a safe and positive environment. All you need is some paper, a pen, and a stable internet connection! No writing experience necessary. 

Facilitator: Living Hyphen is a community that explores the experiences of hyphenated Canadians. Through art and writing, we uncover what it means to live in between cultures as individuals who call Canada home but with roots elsewhere. 

When: 12 – 1:30 p.m.

Join the International Students Office (ISO) for an information session to address some of the practical matters facing students who are planning to work in Montreal or anywhere else in Canada.

We will look at:

• The proper documentation needed to authorize you to work on- and off-campus
• Working after graduation (Post-graduation)
• Obtaining your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
• Filing taxes

This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations set by Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and have all your questions answered.
