Student emergency and food fund
Are you in a tough financial spot? You may qualify for the Student Emergency and Food Fund (SEFF)
The Emergency and Food Fund is a resource for currently registered Concordia students who find themselves in a temporary financial crisis while looking for long-term solutions.
SEFF is a food fund intended as short-term relief for students who find themselves in a sudden financial emergency. An e-gift card is issued to be used at any PC grocery store.
All currently enrolled Concordia students who are residing in Canada are eligible to apply for SEFF. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide grocery cards for students living outside of Canada at this time.
Students must apply through their student portal, using their Concordia email address email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. For support, please see https://www.concordia.ca/it/services/myconcordia-portal.html or contact email@example.com.
You will receive an auto-reply email when you've submitted the application form. Please check your junk mail to ensure you have received it. You will only hear from our team if we have further questions. Otherwise, you will receive the e-gift card by email from firstname.lastname@example.org.
Be sure to check your junk mail and other inboxes in your email. The email will come from email@example.com. If you have not received an e-gift card or heard from our team after 15 business days, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The cards are ONLY accepted at the following stores: Maxi, Provigo, Loblaws, NoFrills, Superstore, City Market, Fortinos, the Real Canadian Superstore, Extra Foods, Zehrs, Independent, Wholesale Club, the Atlantic Superstore, and Valu-Mart.
*If you live somewhere where you do not have access to one of these stores, please indicate this on the application form, and we will be in touch.
Students may apply a maximum of once per semester with 6 weeks between each successful application.
For the purpose of the fund, semesters are defined as follows:
Winter 2021: January 11, 2021 – May 9, 2021
Spring/summer 2021: May 10, 2021 – September 6, 2021
Fall 2021: September 7, 2021 – December 22, 2021
Winter 2022: January 6, 2022 – tbd

In the meantime, there are several student organizations and fee levy groups that are running programs to address food security issues:
- The Concordia Food Coalition has been doing a weekly food basket, as per their Concordia Farmers Market Facebook Page. It may be best to email them for information.
