Failed standingAcademic notices and failed standing notifications will be sent in the next few weeks. Here’s what to do if you find yourself in a failed standing. At the ISO, we can provide information about the immigration impacts of being in failed standing, but we cannot provide academic advice related to failed standing. Please reach out to your Academic Advisor or to your Department’s Student Academic Services for that. Contact information for academic advising is available below. To learn more about the immigration impacts of being in failed standing, please watch this video. If you still have immigration questions after watching the video, please come meet with your ISO advisor. General information about failed standing is available here. Information about readmission procedures is faculty-specific. Please consult the readmission procedures for your faculty:
You must reach out to your faculty’s Student Academic Services or Academic Advising for assistance with readmission applications and for all academic questions and support:

How to apply for your post-graduation work permit info sessionBack by popular demand! This session is intended to clarify the policies outlining the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) program as well as assist with the application process. Immigration Canada's policy of post-graduation employment was developed to benefit international students in a meaningful way by enabling them to acquire Canadian work experience. This session is for Concordia University international students who will be completing their studies by the end of the Winter 2026 or Summer 2026. We hold this session every term, and you must come to the one in your last term to make sure you receive the most up-to-date information. Tuesday, May 5, 10 a.m., online |

ALL applicants, including students from Australia, Belgium, France, New Zealand, the UK, the USA, any English or French-speaking country, and all other countries, need to submit language test scores with their PGWP application. No one is exempt from this PGWP requirement. Your test results must be less than 2 years old when you submit your application. Accepted language tests:
Concordia Continuing Education offers language testing. The scores needed depend on your program of study. Visit Work in Canada after you graduate: Who can apply - Canada.ca to find out what scores you need. Don’t forget to upload your scores when you apply for your PGWP! Proof of language ability is to be uploaded under "Optional Documents/Client Information". Renew your immigration documents now!If your documents are expiring by November 30, 2026, and you will be studying after your documents expire (including Fall 2026 and beyond), you need to start renewing them now! The processing times are longer than usual (6 to 8 weeks to renew a CAQ and 89 days to renew a study permit from inside Canada), and failure to maintain up-to-date immigration documents will result in being deregistered from your courses.
IMPORTANT: Personal and living expenses for 1 person 18 years of age and older for a CAQ and/or study permit renewal have increased to $24,617.00 as of January 1, 2026. Thesis students: please remember that you need the following to “finish” your studies:
IMPORTANT: Make sure that your study permit application is submitted before the expiration date of your current study permit to have maintained status, and remember that to have maintained status, you must have a valid or renewed CAQ. Also, there is no such thing as a maintained status for a CAQ, it only applies to your study permit. Have a good week! |
