GPTK795 - Concordia TA and RA Essentials

The Teaching and Research Assistants at Concordia (TRAC Union / PSAC Local 12500) is a labour union local comprising the teaching assistants and research assistants at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec.

The TAs and RAs Essentials workshop will clarify basic information on the collective agreements including what every TA or RA must know before, at the moment, and after signing their contracts.

This workshop will help TRAC members to know more about their rights as employees.


Learning Objectives



The main objective of this workshop is to help TAs and RAs at Concordia University to be aware of their rights and responsibilities and all issues regarding their contracts, and more broadly:
• Increase the quality of education at Concordia University,
• Improve the working conditions of TAs and RAs,
• Ensure TRAC members are treated fairly,
• Facilitate effective communication with professors and departments,
• Know what TRAC is and how TAs and RAs may benefit from their union.


Leaders Information



This workshop is led by Natalie Greenberg, Vice-President, and Jeremy Tessier, Grievance Officer, TRAC. Natalie is a PhD candidate in the Department of Film and Moving Image Studies. Jeremy is an M.Sc candidate in the department of Geography, Planning and Environment.
