GPLD146 - Managing People's Performance

In this workshop, participants will learn basic principles to manage performance. Managing people involves recognizing their strengths, assigning tasks accordingly, providing constructive feedback and managing performance issues. Through brief lectures and hands-on exercises, participants will be introduced to each of these concepts.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize that management techniques should be adapted to the people they are leading
2. Identify ways to facilitate goal attainment
3. Provide feedback that is impactful
4. Apply some basic guidelines to deal with performance issues effectively

Leaders Information

This workshop is led by Azfar Adib.

Azfar is a PhD student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Concordia University. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering and an MBA, followed by his current perusal of doctoral studies in biomedical arena. Having professional experience of over 8 years in different functional- managerial roles along with a wide range of volunteering activities; Azfar is passionate about empowering people towards excellence, which he regularly promotes through public speaking-writing and other endeavors.
