GradProSkills empowers Concordia graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to engage with community resources, optimize their graduate school experience and equip themselves to realize their professional and academic goals. We are currently accepting applications from graduate students who will be enrolled in a Concordia graduate program in the Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 terms, and are also in good academic standing.

Available positions
We seek to hire a graduate student to support the implementation of our communications plan.
The Communications Assistant is a central role in the GradProSkills team. They are responsible for:
- researching and writing content for the GradProBlog and website;
- creating and scheduling GradProSkills’ Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn content;
- producing the GradProSkills email newsletter; and
- producing media such as images, videos, posters and brochures.
Required skills and experience:
- MUST be a graduate student enrolled in a Concordia graduate program from September 2022 to April 2023.
- Exceptional written communication in English.
- Strong coordination and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and play a leadership role in the team.
- Experience creating and scheduling captivating social media content for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, using Hootsuite.
- Experience researching and writing content for blogs.
- Proficient in designing media (ex. images, videos, posters, brochures) using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
- Experience in webpage creation, preferably using Adobe AEM, Dreamweaver and HTML5.
- Experience in the development and implementation of promotional campaigns.
- Familiarity with Concordia student services, graduate programs and GradProSkills.
- Training in photography and videography is an asset.

Approximate hours: 15-20 hours per week

We seek to hire two graduate students to develop and deliver the workshops under GradProSkills’ most popular skill domain, Digital, media and information. These workshops provide an introduction to popular research, creativity and productivity applications, as well as programming languages used in graduate-level research. If you would like to expand your teaching experience and have expertise in either of the digital tools listed below, we encourage you to apply to join the 2022-23 GradProSkills Team.
Required skills and experience:
- MUST be a graduate student enrolled in a Concordia graduate program from September 2022 to April 2023.
- User expertise in at least on of the digital skills we teach: Python, R, LaTeX, Wordpress, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft O365, etc.
- Experience teaching or facilitating group discussions with adults in a multicultural setting.
- Knowledge of lesson planning and teaching methodologies in an online and in-person environment.
- Completion of the Graduate Seminar in University Teaching is highly desirable.
- Comfort navigating different computer environments (Windows, MAC and Linux).
- Working knowledge of Concordia’s online training tools, notably Zoom and Moodle.
- Excellent written and spoken communication in English.
- Strong organizational and time management skills and flexibility in schedule and work.
- Demonstrated ability to perform professionally both independently and in a team environment.
- Familiarity with Concordia facilities, services and the GradProSkills program.
- Willingness to work on other GradProSkills events/activities as required.

Lesson planning and teaching skills of short-listed candidates will be tested.
We seek two graduate students to facilitate GradProSkills French conversation groups, offered from beginner to advanced levels.
The duties of this role include:
- facilitating weekly French conversation classes;
- identifying activities to stimulate French conversation which is adapted to the group’s aptitude;
- assessing students’ French spoken ability against pre-defined criteria; and
- contributing to the development of GradProSkills’ French training resources.
Required skills and experience:
- MUST be a graduate student enrolled in a Concordia graduate program from September 2022 to April 2023.
- MUST have a mastery of French.
- Experience teaching or facilitating group discussions with adults in a multicultural setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to keep students engaged.
- Good knowledge of lesson plan development, teaching methodologies, and learning management systems such as Moodle.
- Completion of the Graduate Seminar in University Teaching is highly desirable.
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback from graduate student peers.
- Professionalism, sense of responsibility and flexibility in terms of schedule organization of work.
- Ability to work in teams and autonomously
- Familiarity with Concordia facilities, services and the GradProSkills program.
- Willingness to work on other GradProSkills events/activities as required.

Salary: $28.37/ hour
Approximate hours: up to 80 hours per term

Lesson planning and teaching skills of short-listed candidates will be tested.
We seek to hire three graduate students to develop and deliver our Graduate Academic Success workshops. These workshops teach the best graduate academic practices related to study, research, writing, and presentation skills. The workshop facilitators will also lead coaching for Concordia's Three Minute Thesis (English) and Ma thèse en 180 secondes (French) competitions during the Winter term. If you would like to expand your teaching and coaching experience, have a mastery of English, and excellent graduate-level academic skills, we encourage you to apply to join the 2022-23 GradProSkills Team.
Required skills and experience:
- MUST be a graduate student, preferably a senior PhD student, enrolled in a Concordia graduate program from September 2022 to April 2023.
- Excellent written and spoken communication in English.
- Demonstrated success in academic writing principles evidenced by publishing peer-reviewed papers and/or a graduate thesis.
- Proficient in teaching study, writing and presentation skills at the university level.
- Experience teaching or facilitating group discussions with adults in a multicultural setting.
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback from graduate student peers.
- Good knowledge of lesson planning and teaching methodologies in an online and in-person environment.
- Completion of the Graduate Seminar in University Teaching is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills.
- Professionalism, sense of responsibility and flexibility in terms of schedule organization of work.
- Ability to work in teams and autonomously

Lesson planning and teaching skills of short-listed candidates will be tested during the interview.
We seek to hire four graduate students to support the delivery of our workshops. If you would like to improve your organization and communication skills, and contribute to the mission of GradProSkills, we encourage you to apply to join the 2022-23 GradProSkills Team as a “Workshop Host.”
The Workshop Host plays an essential role in ensuring the smooth delivery of our online and in-person workshops and events by supporting the workshop leader and GradProSkills administrative staff. The duties of this role include:
- communicating with the presenter(s) before the workshop to confirm the workshop agenda;
- preparing the physical or virtual classroom to the presenter’s requirements;
- supporting the presenter in managing participant questions and activities;
- taking attendance;
- troubleshooting any technical problems;
- promoting related workshops; and
- collecting feedback.
After the workshop or events, the hosts debrief their experience with the workshop leader and the GradProSkills staff.
Required skills and experience:
- MUST be a graduate student enrolled in a Concordia graduate program from September 2022 to April 2023.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the delivery of interactive online training and in-person events.
- Knowledge of Zoom and Moodle, and capable of troubleshooting any issues with these tools.
- Very good oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organization skills and attention to detail.
- Professionalism, sense of responsibility and flexibility in terms of schedule organization of work.
- Ability to work in teams and autonomously.
- Familiarity with Concordia facilities, student services and the GradProSkills program.
- Willingness to work on other GradProSkills events/activities as required.
