Isaiah Joyner Engagement Bio
What’s the point of spending three plus years at a school and not remembering a single person after?
The Co-op program and getting involved here at Concordia were the most engaging experiencesI have had. The Co-op program was an amazing resource for me that came with a lot of support and guidance, and really pushed my growth exponentially. I was able to learn so much in the short time that I was there, and it always made me want to share my experiences with others in hopes that they would find a similar experience.
My “Involvement Career” as I like to call it, is very unique to me as a person. I started off by joining the Board of Directors of CASA as an Independent Director. Where I got to work with my peers to make decisions to better the JMSB experience for all our members. I wanted to do more, so when the opportunity came, I took the chance to run in the CSU elections and am now the External Affairs & Mobilization Coordinator. Everyday there is something new and I really try my best to add value to student life and help as many people as I can.
My advice is to get involved as soon as possible! Grades are important but not the only thing you are here for. No matter what faculty you are in, there are countless opportunities to gain experience and make connections with the people around you. What’s the point of spending three plus years at a school and not remembering a single person after? Also familiarize yourself with your student union and faculty association to take advantage of the great services offered by your peers.
