Masoumeh Hashemi Engagement Bio
These are the things that I always need to remind myself, that I must learn to learn, as well as I must learn to unlearn.
My whole experience of graduate studies as an international student who had to establish almost everything from ground zero has been indeed challenging for me; a time and energy consuming process of settlement in a whole new landscape to further develop my research interests and shape a broader and deeper understanding of my field.
Generally it came to be a matter of management and prioritization which I am still struggling with, but there is a dynamicity that makes this experience absolutely productive and pleasant for me. The fact that I can look back and see what I have cultivated along the way generates a feeling of hope that I suppose is an essential component for any sort of plan or journey. These are the things that I always need to remind myself, that I must learn to learn, as well as I must learn to unlearn. And that I need to share and benefit from collaboration and get rid of any frame which defines achievement as an individual desire. Almost all faculty members at Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema have been a huge source of support and encouragement for me.
