Mona Estak Engagement Bio

It’s important to expose yourself to the different opportunities Concordia has to offer because it will develop you as a person

I felt privileged to be part of CASA Cares 15th Annual Fashion Show, with approximately 450 attendees and over 80 volunteers. This event brought both the Concordia and Montreal community together in an effort to support and raise awareness for the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. This experience pushed me to find a balance between different aspects of my life and be thoughtful in engaging with others.

It was my first time planning an event of this magnitude, so there were definitely challenges to overcome. There was a lot of pressure and many last minute details to finish. Managing the unexpected problems that arose was incredibly challenging and stressful. Thankfully, I had such a supportive team of execs and volunteers to help me. Together, we were able to pull off a successful event!

My advice to incoming students is to look beyond the classroom. There are so many ways to be engaged at Concordia that are related to your passions. Whether you join student groups or attend various events and/or programs, I know you will connect with awesome people, expand your knowledge, and experience a different part of university life. It’s important to expose yourself to the different opportunities Concordia has to offer because it will develop you as a person! The amount of support I felt this year from everyone at Concordia is beyond words that I can express; I am so grateful for every experience and every interaction because it developed me as a person.
