GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTERS

Presentation guidelines

Presenters must submit their presentation by April 22, 2021. Three presentation formats will be showcased in the Interactive Symposium 2021, virtual edition. Please follow the guidelines that are specific to the format you were assigned to.

Guidelines for oral presentations

  • The presentations must be a maximum of five or 15 minutes. This information is included in your acceptance letter.
    • In order to respect the time limit, it is recommended to focus only on key ideas.
  • We highly encourage presentations in PowerPoint format.
    • PowerPoint tips:
      • The first slide must include the title and presenter’s name.
      • Avoid using long quotes.
      • Avoid using overly bright colours or elaborate fonts, and slide effects.
  • Presentations must be pre-recorded, with the audio of the presenter speaking incorporated into the PowerPoint.
  • Please record your presentation as an mp4 file and transfer it electronically to hermes@concordia.ca by using the free-to-use WeTransfer application.
    • We must receive your presentation by April 22, 2021.
    • The file name must include the presenter’s full name.

 

Guidelines for poster presentations

  • Poster presentations will only be accepted in PDF format.
    • Can be designed using PowerPoint and then exported to PDF.
  • Poster size must be 114 cm (45'') per 86 cm (34'').
  • No word limit, but it is recommended that effective posters contain a maximum of 1,200 words
  • Subheadings should be at least 30-point font. Text font should be at least 20-point font, though larger font is encouraged.
  • Be mindful of the amount of words and images being used, ensuring that the poster does not appear cluttered or overloaded with information.
  • Be mindful of the potential contrast between background colour and font colour.

  • Poster presentations must be submitted by email to hermes@concordia.ca no later than April 22, 2021.
    • The file names must include the presenter’s full name.
