Gender, sexuality, love
Pierre-Olivier Jourdenais is doing an M.A. in Sociology at Concordia University under the supervision of Dr. Martin French, and previously obtained a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Computer Science at the same university in 2016. He is interested in issues of gender and race representations in video games, with strong interests in the study of sexuality and relationship norms, gambling, queer studies, the search for ‘meaning’ in one’s life, and politics/political sociology. His current research focuses on the numerous discourses around ‘responsible gaming’, on how games (both video games and gambling) are built to be addictive, and the impact of this on at-risk communities.
