MBA in Investment Management Advantage

We offer the world's first MBA program that fully integrates the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) Body of Knowledge™ into its curriculum, enabling our students to study towards two world-recognized designations simultaneously;

  • The MBA has long been considered a prime preparation for a senior business role because of its ability to provide students with theoretical and practical training which helps them to improve their leadership skills and get a better understanding of general business management functions.

  • The Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation is recognized worldwide as the gold standard of the business community. It is regarded as a passport to entry or advancement within the investment management profession, and is synonymous with the highest level of competence, investment knowledge, professional ethics and corporate standards. To earn the CFA designation, students must fulfil all CFA Institute requirements which are outlined on the CFA Institute's website.

Students from the John Molson MBA in Investment Management program have CFA Level I pass rates that often double the worldwide rate.*

*Pass rates are based on voluntary disclosures by Goodman Institute of Investment Management students and represent 100% of our Level I students who have passed the June exam for the first time while in the program, from 2003 - 2017.

Peer networking and mentorship

Beyond the MBA and CFA® curriculum, our program offers the opportunity to network with other students who have similar goals, aspirations and interest in finance. Year 2 and Year 3 students mentor incoming students and guide them through the course material. They provide CFA® exam writing and study tips, and share their experiences — a process that benefits both mentors and mentee

A professional and personal social circle

What our students have to say about the GIIM Advantage

Jeffrey Lindell

“The 16-week summer internship at CIBC Global Markets is well known. Learning the language and understanding the speed of transactions and market movements is a daunting task at first. During my internship, I was assigned to a satellite office (Montreal) and had the ability to rotate on the trading floor sitting on the bond, equities, swaps, and FX desks. An especially rewarding component to the internship was the ability to observe and ask questions pertaining to daily market activities and live deals. I encourage anyone interested in capital markets to put in the requisite time and effort to find themselves a summer internship.”
