Dear colleagues,

Welcome back! I hope you had a lovely summer. I am looking forward to another exciting academic year ahead.

Faculty and staff group picture at 2024 Dean's Back to School BBQ

I was especially excited to see you at the Dean’s Back to School BBQ on Thursday, September 5. Thank you to Kelly Hall for another wonderful edition of this annual event and thank you to Alexandra Karnezis and Barbara Henchey for supporting Kelly on the day of.

Introducing the Strategic Plan tagline

In January 2024, we embarked on a project to co-create an inspiring phrase that reinforces our reputation and engages us around the strategic plan. We started by introducing the idea to our executive council. We then opened it up to faculty and staff in May 2024. After reviewing the finalists, the strategic planning committee selected a tagline:

Learn. Experiment. Thrive.

Apprendre. Expérimenter. Se dépasser.

We chose this tagline because of its concision in capturing the many activities and ambitions of the John Molson School of Business as expressed in the 2023-2026 strategic plan. You can find the rationale for the tagline, guidelines on how to use it as well as graphics and presentation tools related to the strategic plan on the JMSB SharePoint site here.

Golf Classic fundraiser

On September 3, Concordia’s Golf Classic raised $605,000 for student scholarships.
It was a great pleasure to be part of one of Concordia's most successful fundraisers where 150 business leaders, alumni, donors and friends of Concordia enjoyed each other’s company.

I want to thank Joe Capano, Daniel Cere, Carla Tittley-René and Jennifer Stapenhorst on our John Molson University Advancement team for their work on this. I also want to thank members of the Dean’s Advisory Board who participated and contributed to this important event to raise funds in support of our students.

Celebrating our success

Congratulations to PhD student Saman Ronagh on winning the 2024 Tasha Wallace Teaching Award. This award recognizes doctoral students who approach their role as teachers with commitment and enthusiasm. You can read more about Saman here.
