Position description

Extended Term Appointments at Concordia are full-time faculty, responsible for teaching six or seven three-credit courses per year, and for some administrative and other service roles within the department. The initial appointment is for three years and may be renewed.

The Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace Engineering invites applications for an Extended Term Appointment (ETA) faculty position at the rank of Lecturer in the area of Engineering Science. ETA faculty members will be assigned core undergraduate engineering and engineering mathematics courses, and may also be assigned graduate courses. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of teaching core undergraduate engineering topics including engineering mathematics, statics, and dynamics. The incumbent is expected to take a strong lead in the core engineering mathematics courses, including the course content, delivery, and evaluation and to coordinate the multiple sections across the academic year. The initial appointment is for an approximately three-year period with the possibility of reappointment subject to the availability of work and a positive evaluation of the individual’s performance.

Qualifications and assets

The ETA candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, physics or engineering and a PhD degree in an engineering discipline. Relevant engineering experience is an asset. The ETA candidate must be a registered professional engineer in Canada, preferably in Quebec. A working knowledge of French is an asset.
