Bio:

Donya Metzger is a Certified Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner specializing in vocal and autonomic nervous system function. Her extensive background in dance keeps her rooted in the body and movement and a lifetime of a cappella singing brings her curiosity about singing, especially singing in harmony with others. Recently she has been exploring how voicework can be supportive of healing trauma and how understanding nervous system function can help performers manage the physical and vocal demands of being onstage. She has offered workshops and coachings for performers across Canada and the US as well as in Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, the UK, and Colombia, and in the past year, many more places via the internet! She is regularly on faculty at Harmony University in Nashville, TN. She has recorded learning media for many hundreds of songs and has written and arranged several originals, including 'Snow Day', winner of a Sheet Music Press Composition Competition award in 2019 and a featured track on her a cappella holiday album, Sister Grinch. Donya has a BFA in Dance from Simon Fraser University and teaches voice and speech at Vancouver Film School.
