OK is a first-generation Middle Eastern American. Her family moved to the Midwest from Baghdad in the early 1980s. She received her BA in Intermedia from DePaul University in Chicago, mentored by ethnographic filmmaker Greg Scott and performance artist and designer Zack Ostrowski. Her work has been published in Temporary Art Review, Vice, Pitchfork, Glamour Girl, Alt Citizen, and Under the Influence Magazine. She has performed at Grace Exhibition Space in New York and the Public House Theater in Chicago, and in 2018 she co-produced the Fourth Annual Festival of Poets Theater at Sector 2337 Gallery in Chicago. She is the recipient of the Lazare Family Graduate Award in Photography and the AJ Zelina Emerging Young Photographer Award from the Luminous Endowment. Her work involves writing, design, performance, and video, though image-making is always at the heart of her practice.
