Mick Sand
MFA Student, Photography
My practice is focused on epistemology and the production of knowledge predominantly surrounding western historical art objects and themes within art-history narratives. I am acutely interested in the ineffable qualities of knowledge as expressed through art objects and their potential for impacting larger cultural discourses. Through my photography and video-based installations I muse on how knowledge is created, understood, categorized and presented while retaining that all knowledge is partial, subjective and in a constant, dynamic state of becoming.
Mick Sand is a Montreal-based Canadian visual artist working predominantly in photography but he also dabbles in other lens-based media. He received a BFA in Photography in 2014 and is the proud recipient of the 2018 Lazare Family Graduate Award in Photography.
