Martin Blanchette
MFA Student, Painting and Drawing
Through drawing and painting, I explore the idea of a resilient and de-anthropized nature. I take a symbolic and romantic look at the relationship between nature and its human pathogen.
I depict a dreamlike, swampy world where architecture is left to decay and strange beings rub shoulders. While they quarrel, admire their reflection in the water or lie on the ground, vultures await. Is the cataclysm imminent, or has it already happened?
Martin Blanchette was born in Montréal in 1991. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from UQÀM (2015).
