My current work utilizes a camera-less video practice, sampling and re-mixing fragments and artefacts from the world wide web and other digital interfaces, as a means to critique our contemporary relationship to the screen and the digital mediation of culture.
Jonathan Inksetter’s installation and video work has been presented across Canada and internationally. In 2015 he was artist in residence at Haus der elektronischen Künste / Critical Media Lab, Basel, Switzerland. In 2004, the invited, a digital film created in collaboration with the choreographer Meg Stuart premiered at Centre Pompidou, Paris. He was an artist laureate of Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes, attending The European Forum on Emerging Creation in Graz, Austria, 2003, and received a Golden Spire from the San Francisco International Film Festival 2000 Golden Gate Awards for a series of experimental shorts titled MusicVideos.
