Daniel Crawford
MFA Student, Film Production
My work springs from a fascination with the history of storytelling in all its forms. Using film and stop-motion animation, my work combines different media to explore the potential of non-linear narrative by collapsing moments, concepts and materials into tumultuous spaces of transformation. Contradictory symbolic gestures create intensified visual cycles that each viewer fills with a unique breath of interaction.
A passion for storytelling lead me to a degree in English Literature from Trent University in 2009. Filled with stories I went to NSCAD University in Halifax to learn how to turn them into cinema. After graduating from NSCAD in 2014, I ran a studio/teaching/gallery space in Peterborough. In 2019 I traveled to Montreal to explore my experimental stop-motion animation work through the MFA in Film Production.
