What is the essence of a place?
This question is at the foundation of my work.
I’ve always felt affected by the environnement that surrounds me and have been intrigued by the effect provoked by a particular place. I’m fascinated by the aura of a specific territory, but more about how I can turn this place into a playground. With the word playground, I mean creating a collection of human stories, where the main character is the place.
In other words, transforming marginalized places - whether it be an island, a big city…into an imaginary place.
Camille Salvetti has been working, studying and taking long walks in Montreal since 2014. She now divides her time between Quebec and Europe, especially since initiating a film project in Portugal in 2019. Graduating from Film Production from the University of Quebec in Montreal in 2017, Camille Salvetti continues her artistic research at Concordia University where she is currently focusing on the notions of space-time and the sprawling feelings of belonging.
