My art celebrates the imperfections of this happy secular life of mine. As an artist, I tend to seek inspiration from everyday life; the interplay between people's behaviours and the corresponding ideology. To be specific, how consumerism shapes our beliefs. What contributes to the duality of our social life, materialism, people’s accessibility to resources, the meaning of superstition, the idea of hierarchy, and the unavoidable conformity.
I'm a member of the post-90s generation that witnessed the development of China's booming urban economy. My childhood was filled with more than enough satisfaction in terms of material possessions, therefore, I hold an opposite opinion about consumerism compared to most of my peers. I appreciate the idea of buying a chance to indulge into a designed fantasy, somewhere similar to what commericial advertisment has portrayed. In recent years, my fantasy gradually collapsed followed by the deterioration of the quality in commercial production.
