Admissions requirements

For applicants to Fibres & Material Practices, Print Media, Photography, Sculpture & Ceramics, Painting & Drawing, Intermedia

MFA in Film Production is now offered as the MFA in Cinematic Arts through the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema.

Step 1: Complete Concordia's admissions application

For new applicants

All new applicants must complete Concordia University's online admissions application before submitting a portfolio or video audition.

Fibres & Material Practices, Print Media, Photography, Sculpture & Ceramics, Painting & Drawing, Intermedia applicants

Step 2: Prepare your documents

Attach the following documents to the application. Please note that documents can also be uploaded after an application has been submitted. 

  • Your application must include a transcript from each university-level institution(s) previously attended
  • 600-word statement of purpose (letter of intent) in English or French describing your specific interest in the MFA program and how projected graduate studies relate to your personal long-term academic and professional goals
  • Three letters of reference:
    You will be asked to provide current email addresses for three referees. Concordia will email a unique link directly to your referees. They will be prompted to complete the assessment form online and upload a letter of reference. Your referees will have access to the link for 14 days. Reference letters must be received no later than January 20.
  • Curriculum vitae
  • All other required documents

Please save your documents as a word doc or PDF. You will be able to upload it when you submit your materials.

Step 3: Curate your portfolio

Your portfolio must include 10-20 images or media files of recent art work.

Each file must include the work's

  • Title
  • Medium
  • Dimensions or duration
  • Year of completion

The total running time for media files should not exceed 10 minutes in duration.
