Join us for the Legado Public Art Competition Jury Presentations! Seven teams of Concordia students present their final proposals for a public art installation for Legado, an innovative mixed-use development in Griffintown by Gestion Immobilière Quo Vadis. Guided by sustainable socio-economic, cultural and environmental principles and a Net-Zero energy strategy, Legado is a game-changing model for urban development.
Since May, students have been exploring placemaking on the Legado site through public art, independently and in association with DART498 Urban Futures: Developing Conscientious Competition Proposals (Summer 2017) led by Mouna Andraos and Melissa Mongiat of Daily tous les jours design studio. The competition goal is to envision how to gather and engage the diverse community of Griffintown around its shared history of innovation, and highlight the importance of creativity, sustainability and resiliency in developing urban projects. Three finalists will be chosen to refine their proposals and compete for the chance to realize their work on the Legado site. Winning finalists will also be eligible to receive the inaugural awards of Concordia’s Quo Vadis Social Innovation Prize.
This event is free and open to the public. A private reception for competition entrants will follow.
