Nicola Pezolet

Nicola Pezolet is Assistant Professor of Architecture and Art History in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Concordia University. His current research project, funded by a SSHRC Insight Development Grant, is focused on the renewal of Catholic architecture and art in Canada at midcentury, especially in the years leading up to Second Vatican Council and to the Canadian Centennial. This project investigates how the twentieth-century boom in the construction of parish churches and monasteries was covered, both in terms of text and image, in the Canadian architectural press (in such publications as Canadian Architect, RAIC Journal and Architecture Bâtiment Construction), while looking at contemporary developments in other countries. His research is also concerned with the place of midcentury public art, both secular and religious, in the urban context of Montreal and other Canadian cities (and their suburbs).
