Anja Novković is a researcher, storyteller, and facilitator captivated by the power of personal narratives. She is an MSc student in Concordia's Department of Geography, Urban and Environmental Studies and holds a BA in Social Anthropology from Simon Fraser University. In the recent past, her storytelling has taken the form of spoken word poetry (most notably her 2015 performance, "Speak", at the TEDx Gastown Women's Conference), and the collection of personal place narratives through her independent research project, "The Storied City: Montréal", for which she is an affiliate of the Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling. Anja's current MSc project, "Alley Stories", seeks to uncover, tell, and map the hidden narratives of one downtown Montréal alleyway. The project aims to both deepen the public's appreciation of overlooked urban spaces and strengthen the way placemakers identify and honour existing place identity.
