For the current academic year (2021-2022), the Centre's volunteer program has been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please contact if you are interested in volunteering the following year (2022-2023). It is still uncertain as to when we will return to in-person programming, and therefore uncertain as to when we will be recruiting volunteers.

The Centre for the Arts in Human Developmentā€™s mandate to provide educational opportunities is fulfilled through student education and training

Interns at the Centre for the Arts in Human Development develop professional skills in Creative Arts Therapies as well as specialized skills in working with adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

The Centre is a clinical training site for graduate students in art therapy, drama therapy and music therapy in the Department of Creative Arts Therapies and graduate students in the Department of Education at Concordia University.

Employees at the Centre who are professionals in the creative arts therapies provide on-site supervision for these interns.

Volunteer opportunities are available for students and members of the Montreal community wishing to gain experience working with adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities, and to give their time and skills to this special program. This enriching experience results in mutual benefits for volunteers and participants, who learn from each other through the process of integration and social inclusion in university life.

We need volunteers who can commit to a consistent schedule. Volunteers are needed Mondays, and/or Wednesdays, and/or Fridays during one or more of the following times: 9:00 am-10:10 am; 11:20am-1:10 pm; 2:20 pm-3:30 pm.

We are also looking for volunteers for our Fels Arts and Friendship Groups. These volunteers must be available on Sundays from 1pm-4pm, and must make a firm commitment for the year (from October to April).

If you are unable to commit to regular volunteering, we welcome occasional help with special events or fundraising.

If you are interested in applying to volunteer at the Centre for the Arts in Human Development, please contact us at Please note that a police check will be conducted for each volunteer.
