While the campus is closed we are unable to offer the SAPling program but it will return!
In it's place we bring you PIXLS (Peer Interface eXchange Learning from Saplings).
PIXLS will be offering open Zoom sessions to help guide you through the CTC Moodle page and help you get answers to your questions.
About the SAPling program
The Shop. Assistant. Program. (SAPling initiative) began in 2018 as a way to allow for more access to the shops while simultaneously assisting shop work flow and increasing the overall user knowledge of tools and shop skills. Students who become SAPlings volunteer 3 hours a week at the shop welcome desk. They are the first person students meet when entering the shop and book their peers in for appointments. In exchange SAPlings have access to the shop 24/7 during their volunteer semesters and have opportunities to train on tools in the shop online through training modules and in person with the technician.
SAPlings are part of a team that will start to address issues around ease of access and other anxieties students have when using the shops. We hope you will apply!
The next application date and time is TBD. Since this program is for people who are wanting to learn how to use tools and also for people who already know how and want greater access, applicants are taken in on a first come first serve basis.
