The CTC Getting Started in the CTC Shops and CTC Digifab Orientation are mandatory for shop access 
No orientations and trainings will be scheduled after February 14th

Getting Started in the CTC Shops (2hrs, max 10 people):     MANDATORY

This is a safety and preparedness training that is designed to introduce users to the three Fine Arts, Core Technical Centre shops. It will focus on shop safety and project planning, preparing you for your first project in the shop. It will provide you with the information required to prepare to work safely in the shops and develop an awareness of the hazards present in this type of environment. This session will introduce participants to ways of thinking about fabrication that will make their time in the workshops more productive and rewarding. This training session is mandatory for everyone wanting to work in the CTC shops but it only needs to be taken once.


Getting Started in the CTC Digital Fabrication Shop (1hr, max 8 people):     MANDATORY

This orientation will help you get acquainted with our guidelines and safety regulations, how to book an appointment, what kind of equipment is available and the infinite possibilities of making things. This orientation will provide participants with a rudimentary introduction to the Laser Cutter, 3D printers and 3D scanners. This training session is mandatory for everyone wanting to work in the Digital Fabrication Shop but it only needs to be taken once.

CTC Digifab Training – Introduction to Laser Cutting
Tips and tricks on Illustrator and Photoshop for the Laser Cutter (1hr, max 8 people)
* You must take the CTC Digifab Orientation prior to this training

For this training, we recommend a minimal familiarity with the Illustrator and Photoshop interface.

This training focuses on important methods used to cut, engrave and prepare your files for the laser cutter. We will go over the different features of Illustrator and Photoshop in a step by step presentation. After this training, participants will be provided with tools to explore a wide array of processes using the Laser Cutter.

CTC Digifab Training – Introduction to 3D Printing
Tips and tricks for successful 3D printing (1.5hr, max 8 people)
* You must take the CTC Digifab Orientation prior to this training

/!\ This is not a 3D modeling software training. /!\

For this training, we recommend a minimal familiarity with 3D modeling softwares terminology.

This training details the processes involved in FDM and SLA 3D printing. Sourcing 3D files, explaining the different technologies and defning terms are at the core of this training. Participants will also learn about 3D printing basic settings, machine setup and what to look for in a 3D models for a successful print. Attending to this training grants you full access to the Creality Ender 3 3D printer.


The Core Technical Centres are facilities in Concordia's EV Building and are available to all Fine Arts students, faculty and researchers.
