Andrée Lafontaine is currently enrolled in the PhD program in Film and Moving Image Studies at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, Concordia University. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in political science from the University of Ottawa, specializing in political thought. Previous work has focused on Slavoj Zizek's political philosophy, contemporary Marxism and the use of Lacanian psychoanalysis in political and film theory.
Recently, she has worked on Merleau-Ponty's existential phenomenology, contemporary American film philosophy and Deleuze's writings on masochism. Her research interests include film philosophy, Lacanian psychoanalysis, feminist film theory and theories of masochism.
