Mature entry and extended credit
Computer Science programs

Please note that Extended Credit Program (ECP) and Mature Entry Program (MEP) students should complete any deficiencies in their first year of study, prior to following the regular program.

First year courses for Computer Science Options

For BCompSc, BCompSc Options (i.e. Computer Applications, Computer Games, Software Systems, Web Services and Applications), Joint Majors in Data Science, Mathematics and Statistics, and Computation Arts:
An example of a first-year schedule for an ECP/MEP student could be:

First Semester:

  • MATH 203
  • Humanities or Social Science Course
  • Elective*

Second Semester:

  • MATH 204
  • MATH 205
  • Humanities or Social Science Course
  • Elective*

*In addition to the prerequisite courses listed above, ECP/MEP students must take a minimum of:

ECP Students:

  1. Information Systems: 15 elective credits chosen from outside the John Molson School of Business and the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science as part for their ECP Requirement.
  2. Computation Arts: 15 elective credits chosen from outside the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science and the Department of Design and Computation Arts as part of their ECP Requirement
  3. Mathematics and Statistics and Data Science: 15 elective credits chosen from outside the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics as part for their ECP Requirement.
  4. All other options:15 elective credits chosen from outside of the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science as part of their ECP Requirement


MEP Students:

  1. All options: 3 elective credits chosen from outside of the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science as part of their MEP Requirement

Note:

  1. MATH 203 must be taken before MATH 205. All other courses can be taken concurrently.
  2. Since these courses are not scheduled by the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, you may have course conflicts.
First year courses for Computer Systems option

An example of a first-year schedule for an ECP*/MEP student could be:

First Semester:

  • CHEM 205
  • MATH 203
  • PHYS 204
  • Humanities or Social Science Course

Second Semester:

  • MATH 204
  • MATH 205
  • PHYS 205
  • Humanities or Social Science Course

*In addition to the prerequisite courses listed above, ECP students must take a minimum of:

6 elective credits chosen from outside of the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science as part of their ECP Requirement

NOTE:

  1. MATH 203 must be taken before MATH 205.
  2. PHYS 204 must be taken before PHYS 205.
  3. Since these courses are not scheduled by the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, you may have course conflicts.
First year courses for Health and Life Sciences

An example of a first-year schedule for an ECP/MEP student could be:

First Semester:

  • MATH 203
  • BIOL 201
  • CHEM 205
  • PHYS 204
  • PHYS 224

Second Semester:

  • MATH 204
  • MATH 205
  • CHEM 206
  • PHYS 205
  • PHYS 225
  • PHYS 206
  • PHYS 226

NOTE:

  1. MATH 203 must be taken before MATH 205.
  2. PHYS 204 must be taken before PHYS 205 and PHYS 206.
  3. CHEM 205 must be taken before CHEM 206.
  4. Since these courses are not scheduled by the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, you may have course conflicts.

After you have completed the credits for your first year, please follow the course sequence for your program.
