56th Garnet Key Leadership Symposium

March 28, 2014
|

The purpose of the Garnet Key Leadership Symposium is to expose the Concordia community to positive role models of leadership and civic engagement.

The theme of this year’s symposium is leadership sustainability. We want to demonstrate that it is perfectly possible to combine professional success and accomplishment with community involvement. In fact, we are convinced that the integration of these two apparently inimical aspects of the human experience, the individual and the collective, is the key to a more fulfilling and sustainable existence.

With that idea in mind, we invited a group of three outstanding individuals who are not only leaders in their professional fields, but are also deeply invested in their communities:

  • Marc Garneau, Canadian MP and first Canadian in space;
  • Richard Renaud, business leader and philanthropist; and
  • Marie-José Nadeau, V.P. Corporate Affairs of Hydro-Québec and first female Chair of the World Energy Council.

These speakers, who have greatly contributed to Canadian society each in their own way, are meant to inspire us to incorporate principles of sustainability into our professional as well as community activities.
