Everyone in the Concordia community, especially those of us with connections to Syria and Türkiye, is very troubled by news of the devastation brought about by the earthquakes.

We are particularly saddened by the tragic loss of life of so many people. We are thinking about the thousands of injured survivors, and we stand together with all those who are suffering and whose lives have been touched by this tragedy.

Since the earthquakes, we reached out to assist students from Türkiye and Syria studying at Concordia.

For members of our community affected by these events: if you need someone to talk to, there are people ready and available to listen.

Resources for faculty and staff

All Concordia employees and their immediate family have free, 24/7 access to our Employee Assistance Program, which provides a broad range of counselling services in English and French.

We encourage instructors to provide accommodations — when possible — to students who might have a difficult time meeting their academic requirements as a result of this situation.

We realize these are very difficult times. Please do not hesitate to access our available resources if you need support.
