Darren Dumoulin stepped into his new role as director of Concordia’s newly named Campus Safety and Prevention Services on December 20. The long-time university staff member had served as interim director of the department, formerly known as Security, since 2021.

“It has been my pleasure and privilege to work with Darren during our time together at Concordia,” says Michael Di Grappa, vice-president of services and sustainability. “He is a trusted, reliable and effective colleague who is well-respected by our community.”

Dumoulin began his career at the university in May 1994. He worked for both Campus Security and Environmental Health and Safety in a variety of roles, beginning as a shift supervisor and progressing into his new position.

Upcoming changes to security

Leading up to his appointment, Dumoulin has been working with members of the community to identify their needs and concerns regarding security and campus safety. He will continue efforts to instill a culture focused on prevention as an important part of overall safety on campus.

Dumoulin notes that several changes will take place over the coming months to ensure that the unit reflects the current needs of the community in a way that is kind, consistent, impartial, transparent and sustainable.
