Concordia hosts the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada conference
Concordia’s John Molson School of Business is hosting the 42nd edition of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) annual conference. Moving Beyond 2020: Consider Impacts on Business and Society will take place virtually from June 12 to 15.
“The year 2020 brought with it unprecedented challenges and the possibility of unforeseen and long-lasting changes,” notes Mark Mullaly, ASAC program vice-president.
“The early months of 2020 saw a pandemic of global proportions. The killing of George Floyd kindled protests worldwide and sparked important discussions about systemic racism. The rise of populism has resulted in seismic political upheavals whose aftershocks have resonated around the world. The impact of these and other major events has rapidly changed the way organizations operate, how people work and relate to each other, how globalization is seen and the viability of entire industries and economies.”
With this in mind, this year’s conference will explore the following question: How can research in business and management help people and organizations in Canada and around the world to prepare themselves for a future that promises to be significantly different than previously imaginable?
Mullaly says that ASAC is thrilled to have the John Molson School of Business as its host institution for this year.

‘We must reframe what our roles are for the benefit of society’
Anne-Marie Croteau, dean of the John Molson School of Business, is excited to partner with ASAC on this particularly important topic.
“Our mission at the school is to provide an engaging learning and research environment that empowers all members of our community to achieve their greatest potential for the betterment of business and society. Now more than ever, we must apply our research and learning to the topics at hand in order to reframe what our roles are for the benefit of society,” Croteau notes.
Keynote speaker for this year’s conference is Manfred F.R. Kets de Vries, distinguished clinical professor of leadership development and organizational change at INSEAD. He is also program director of INSEAD’s top management program, The Challenge of Leadership: Creating Reflective Leaders, and the Founder of INSEAD’s Executive Master Program in Change Management.
