On Monday, May 21, during the long weekend closure, a Loyola Campus-wide electrical interruption will take place for eight hours — between 4 a.m. and 12 p.m. — in all buildings on both the north and south side of Sherbrooke Street. For safety reasons access to these buildings will not be granted during this time except to project personnel.
During this time, all building systems, lab equipment, office equipment and wall outlets connected to regular electrical power will be shut down. Emergency power will remain unaffected.
Faculty and staff are urged to properly shutdown their computers and electronic equipment on Friday, May 18, to avoid any issues linked to power fluctuations. Kitchenette fridges should be emptied as well.
This project is being undertaken to survey inside high voltage switchgear for the upcoming installation of an electrical feed, which will service Loyola’s new Science Hub. This interruption will be one of several taking place this summer to complete the Hub’s electrical system.
The timing of this shutdown, and all subsequent interruptions, has been and will be carefully evaluated to ensure the least possible disruption. For questions please contact your respective departments and instructors.
