Acclaimed Mexican artist Gilberto Esparza is bringing his creative prowess to Montreal in celebration of the city’s 375th birthday. Using light, robotics and contemporary flare, Esparza’s installation will visualize the sewer network of energy that pulses beneath the city’s streets. The show runs until June 17.

4. Cook with your community

Cuisine ta ville | ATSA | Esplanade de la Place des Arts | May 12 at 5 p.m., May 13 and 14 at 10 a.m.

Cuisine ta ville is a relational art project that invites you to cook with members of the community who’ve fled oppression before finding a home in Montreal. Presented as a Quebec-style kitchen party, this event offers an opportunity to engage in one-on-one conversations with refugees. Seminars, testimonials, exhibitions and lively performances all serve to relay the human experience.

Join in on the culinary fun.

5. Listen to some sweet symphonic sounds

Hochelaga Symphony | 375e anniversaire de Montreal | Centre Pierre-Charbonneau | May 28 at 3 p.m.

Don’t miss your chance to witness a free concert by the Metropolitan Orchestra. The musicians will perform alongside elementary and secondary school students from the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve area.
