As a student, you do your best to plan ahead, but last-minute things are bound to come up. Sometimes you have a quick question, need a listening ear or just feel like stopping by to see what’s going on.

While certain Concordia services require an appointment, here’s a list of some great places where you can drop in and get the help you need right away.

1. Student Success Mentors

This is a great resource if you have any questions about being a first-year student. The Student Success Mentor Offices are located on both campuses, and the mentor team has students from both undergraduate and graduate programs to help you.

Stop in and say hi!

Sir George Williams Campus: Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room H-481 of the Henry F. Hall Building (1455 de Maisonneuve Blvd. W.).

Loyola Campus: Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room AD-101 of the Administration Building (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.).

Meet the mentor team and find out more about Concordia’s Student Success Centre.

2. English and French conversation groups

Are you learning French or English as a second language? Then you’re in the right place! The Student Success Centre coordinates conversation groups that meet on campus every week.

All you need to do is drop by with your student ID to practice your English or French by chatting with fellow students.

Check out the group meeting times and locations and join the conversation!

3. Writing Assistance Program

Sometimes it’s hard to know how to formulate your ideas on paper. The Writing Assistance Program, managed by the learning support team, offers help with clarifying and presenting your ideas, and you’ll receive useful writing tips.

Drop-in times with writing assistants are offered on both Concordia campuses:

Sir George Williams Campus: Monday and Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in Room H-662 of the Hall Building.

Loyola Campus: Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. in Room AD-103 of the Administration Building.

4. International Students Office

This is where international students go to find information on a range of topics, including visas and immigration documentation, health insurance, living and working in Canada and an exciting schedule of social activities.

The International Students Office (ISO) also has drop-in hours daily, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, except Thursdays when it’s open from 11:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stop in, take a number and speak with an advisor. The ISO’s brand new office is located in Room GM 330.

An ISO advisor is also available for drop-in questions from 1 to 4 p.m. daily at the Birks Student Service Centre, located in the J.W. McConnell (LB) Building (1400 de Maisonneuve Blvd W.).

5. Counselling and Psychological Services

Navigating your first year of university can be challenging. It sometimes helps to talk with a counsellor about your issues or concerns.

Counselling and Psychological Services offers walk-in triage appointments for students seeking personal counselling. Meet briefly with a staff member who will assess your situation and ensure that you find the most appropriate assistance.

Walk-in hours are available weekdays. Triage operates on a first-come, first-served basis on both campuses.

Visit the Sir George Williams Campus location in Room H-440 of the Hall Building or the Loyola Campus location in Room AD-103 of the Administration Building.

Triage times vary — check online.

6. Multi-Faith and Spirituality Centre

If you need to take a break from studying for exams, try colouring the stress away!

The Multi-Faith and Spirituality Centre offers weekly drop-in meditative colouring sessions every Wednesday, from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Z Annex (2090 Mackay St.), until April 12. Colouring pages and pencils are provided, but feel free to bring your own.

7. The Health Services clinic

Located on the second floor of the Guy-de Maisonneuve Building (GM), Concordia's Health Services is your one-stop on-campus wellness clinic and health promotion centre.

Drop-in services are available from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. As appointments with urgent care doctors are limited, it's recommended that you arrive at the clinic as early as possible.
