The latest reputation enhancer: Concordia is a leader in 11 international categories

The university moves up in two spots in the 2016 QS World University Rankings by Subject

Concordia continues to make a strong showing on the world stage — most recently with this week's release of the 2016 QS World University Rankings by Subject (WURS).

The competitive WURS ranking rates universities by subject according to academic reputation, employer reputation and citations per faculty.

In a pool that deepened by 675 new institutions this year, Concordia climbed in two categories: linguistics, and computer science and information systems.

The university also maintained its positions in seven subjects: English language and literature; civil and structural engineering; electrical and electronic engineering; mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing engineering; psychology; mathematics; and accounting and finance.

Overall, Concordia placed in 11 subjects:

  • English language and literature (151-200)
  • Linguistics (151-200)
  • Computer science and information systems (251-300)
  • Engineering – civil and structural (151-200)
  • Engineering – electrical and electronic (201-250)
  • Engineering – mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing (201-250)
  • Psychology (151-200)
  • Mathematics (301-350)
  • Accounting and finance (151-200)
  • Communication and media studies (151-200)
  • Education (151-200)

The QS World University Rankings by Subject were launched in 2011. They are an outgrowth of the QS World University Rankings, which have been published annually since 2004.

This sixth annual ranking involved a total of 4,226 universities, up from 3,551 last year. The number of institutions that were actually ranked has grown from 894 last year to 945, making the level of competition even stronger.

More than 113 million citations attributions were analysed and QS verified the provision of more than 15,530 programs.

This new edition features a record 42 subjects, six more than the previous year.
