Steve Harvey, dean of the John Molson School of Business (JMSB), is pleased to announce the appointment of Stéphane Brutus to the position of associate dean as of January 1, 2013. Brutus will replace Bakr Ibrahim who has decided to return to active research and teaching at the end of his term.

Brutus, a professor in the Department of Management, brings several years of administrative experience to his new role, including those spent as director of the Bell Research Centre and as chair of the management department.

He will dedicate the first part of 2013 to assisting in the development of the John Molson Executive Centre and to the school’s strategic planning process. As of July 1, Brutus will take on the portfolio of associate dean of professional programs. “We are confident that his integrity, high energy and leadership experience will help us continue building on our strong reputation for the programs within his portfolio,” says Harvey.

Of the outgoing associate dean, Harvey said, “Bakr has been instrumental to the success of the JMSB in various administrative roles over 19 years. His leadership is among the most illustrious and it is directly linked to countless achievements that we benefit from today.”

Though Ibrahim will step out of his administrative duties to pursue his passion for scholarship, he plans to continue being a proactive member of the JMSB community. “I am personally delighted that he wishes to continue contributing to certain projects and JMSB initiatives,” said Harvey.
