The pasta lunches have all been served, and the raffle prizes handed out. Concordia’s annual Centraide campaign is coming to a close, but there’s still one more bake sale, scheduled for Monday, December 10 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in several buildings across the two campuses.

“This is one final chance for people to give to the campaign and get something sweet in return,” says Enza De Cubellis, a member of the Centraide Committee and director of administration for the Office of the Vice-President, Institutional Relations and Secretary-General, which runs the campaign for Concordia.

The final pasta lunch was held this past Tuesday in the lobby of the J.W. McConnell Library Building. It raised $1,250.

Concordia’s campaign is part of the larger Centraide of Greater Montreal campaign, which aims to raise $60 million this year. The money raised is distributed among 370 community agencies that help support more than 500,000 people. So far, it has raised a little more than $50 million.

In 2011, Montreal’s Centraide campaign raised $58,700,000, most of which came from donors in the workplace. The lion’s share of the money raised (87 per cent) by the Centraide of Montreal Campaign is used to help the agencies that are supported by the campaign. The rest goes to cover the campaign’s administration and communication costs.

Members of the Concordia community who donated through the university to the campaign had their names automatically entered in a prize draw. The winnners were announced during the final pasta lunch. They are Alfie Plenzich, payroll administrator in Human Resources, who won a home theatre system; Tracy Sutton, administrative assistant, Academic Relations in the John Molson School of Business, who won a 40-inch LCD television; and Maurice René de Cotret, executive director of Labour Relations in Human Resources, who won a 50-inch LCD television.

There are 25 Centraide ambassadors working in various departments on campus, and anyone who wishes to learn more about the campaign, help out, buy a raffle ticket, or make a donation is encouraged to contact them by email.
