Vladimir Pavlicik named to Universiade soccer team

Associate director of Campus Recreation heads to Russia as Canada's men's soccer team manager

As announced recently by Canadian Interuniversity Sport, Vladimir Pavlicik will represent Canada at the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia. The associate director of Campus Recreation will manage the men's soccer team led by head coach Pat Raimondo of Université de Montréal and assistant coach Rock Basacco of Western University.

Pavlicik was at the helm of the Concordia Stingers men’s soccer program from 1988 to 2006. During his tenure on the sidelines, he led the Stingers to the 1992 Quebec conference championship and was named CIS Coach of the Year in 1998.

The Summer Universiade is an international multi-sport event that takes place every two years and is second only to the Summer Olympic Games in the number of participating athletes and countries.

The Universiade is open to competitors between the ages of 17 and 28 in the year of the games who are full-time students at a post-secondary institution (university, college, Cegep) or have graduated from a post-secondary institution in the year preceding the event.

The 27th Summer Universiade takes place from July 6 to 17, 2013.
