The Department of Education lost a valued member when Gary Boyd passed away on April 3. A memorial service will be held in his honour on June 10 in the Henry F. Hall Building.

Dr. Gary Boyd
Gary Boyd

Boyd helped establish Concordia’s Educational Technology program. “His recurring theme was people helping people via social change, discourse, art and all other forms of good human expression,” recalls his former colleague Richard Schmid. “Gary spoke of these imperatives through his theory, but he also practised them with consummate thought, gentleness and wit. He was universally loved and admired.”

The memorial will be led by the Rev. Ellie Hummel, Chaplain and Coordinator, Concordia Multi-Faith Chaplaincy. Family, friends, and past and present members of the Concordia community are welcome to attend.

Boyd believed in helping people and always gave generously to good causes.
