Honorary doctorate recipients announced
Concordia University will grant six honorary doctorates during spring convocation ceremonies to be held June 20 to 22 in Salle Wilfrid Pelletier at Place des Arts (175 Sainte Catherine Street West).
The six distinguished recipients will join more than 4,700 students from across Concordia’s four Faculties and the School of Graduate Studies who are eligible to graduate this spring.
Installation of Chancellor
L. Jacques Ménard, Chairman of the Board of BMO Nesbitt Burns and President of BMO Financial Group, Québec, will be officially installed as the seventh Chancellor of Concordia.

The honorands are:
The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, P.C., Chief Justice of Canada and the first woman to occupy this prestigious post, for her commitment to justice and equality and her influence on the evolution of Canada’s judicial system.
June 20 at 3 p.m. – Faculty of Arts and Science
Rémi Quirion, Vice-Dean, Life Sciences and Strategic Initiatives for McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine, for the sum of his achievements in the fields of neuroscience and mental health.
June 20 at 7 p.m. – Faculty of Arts and Science
Corinne Charette, engineer and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Government of Canada, for her dynamism and commitment to best practices in information management and security, access to information and privacy in the public realm.
June 21 at 10 a.m. – John Molson School of Business
Monique F. Leroux, Chair of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins Group, for her exceptional contribution to Quebec society and her accomplishments in matters of management and governance.
June 21 at 3 p.m. – John Molson School of Business
Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder of Apple Computer, Inc. and philanthropist, in recognition of his revolutionary contributions to personal computing and technological innovation as well as his committment to youth and education.
June 22 at 10 a.m. – Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science
Theo Jansen, Dutch sculptor, for his monumental creations and his success in bridging art and science in producing his kinetic sculptures.
June 22 at 3 p.m. – Faculty of Fine Arts
