Faculty members in either Arts and Science or Fine Arts are encouraged to submit proposals for interdisciplinary scholarship to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture (CISSC) before January 15.

CISSC promotes interdisciplinary scholarship and currently supports a handful of working groups that meet and collaborate at least five times a year in areas of study or research that relate to the humanities, social sciences or fine arts.

The successful application will consist of a letter describing:

  • the rationale for the group’s interdisciplinary character
  • the issues in scholarship, research or creation that the group will address
  • its proposed activities
  • a budget

The letter will be signed by at least three Concordia faculty members, from more than one academic department, who have agreed to participate.

Working groups can apply for up to $1,500 a year and can be renewed, with funds awarded based on activities proposed. The involvement of graduate students, especially PhD Humanities students, is desirable.

Proposals should be sent by internal mail to CISSC, J. W. McConnell Building, LB-689.
