Students, staff, faculty and alumni are encouraged to don their school colours and join the annual Homecoming football game as the Concordia Stingers host the Bishop’s Gaiters this weekend.

This year’s Homecoming game will also serve as the 24th annual Shrine Bowl, so fans can expect the pomp and pageantry that comes with a Shriners’ event. The football game will be broadcast live on Radio-Canada – a great opportunity to show Concordia pride across the country by wearing maroon and cheering our team.

“We know the Bishop’s Gaiters have eight busloads of fans coming from Lennoxville,” says Stinger senior linebacker Bryan Charleau. “On behalf of my teammates, I’m asking all Concordians to come out and cheer us on. There’s nothing better than playing in front of loud, supportive fans.”

The game, which unfolds at Concordia Stadium (7200 Sherbrooke St. W.), will feature the Stingers’ mascot, Buzz, as well as the Spirit Team. There will be a family area with arts and crafts for children and a face-painter; T-shirts fired up by canon; mini-footballs tossed into the crowd and Hamster Ball races at halftime.

The Homecoming game begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 25. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for non-Concordia students, $4 for Concordia students and seniors, and free for children 12 or younger.

Tickets on sale and gates open as of 11:30 am. Concessions for beer, hotdogs, Italian sausage, hamburgers, etc., also open at 11:30 am.

Advanced tickets can be purchased by calling 514-848-2424, ext. 3898.
