National Walk to Work Day

The first Friday in April has been designated in several countries, including the United States, as a day to change up the daily commute by building in some additional fresh air and exercise. Lowering noise and air pollution and reflecting on the quality of life in our cities are additional objectives in the lead-up to Earth Day, set for April 22.

Silvano De la Llataassistant professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment, is an architect and urban planner. His research is focused on how to democratize urban planning to empower and involve citizens more directly in shaping their cities.
