Light Rail project gets federal funding

The Trudeau government is investing $1.28 billion in construction of the proposed light-rail system led by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. But critics say while the plan is being touted as a measure to fight against climate change, it should be better integrated into overall transportation planning for Montreal. One such critic is Pierre Gauthier, an urban  planner who has contributed extensively to proposed plans for overhauling the Turcotte interchange and other large-scale urban renewal projects.
