Monika Kin Gagnon

Rethinking Expo 67
Posted on May 2, 2017

Monika Gagnon, professor of communication studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science, was a guest on CBC Radio Noon yesterday for a special on Expo 67. She is first heard at the 4:30 mark. Gagnon spoke about the upcoming exhibition at the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, "In Search of Expo 67", which opens June 21. The exhibition is co-curated by Gagnon, who is co-director of the CinemaExpo67 research team at Concordia. Ten artists participating in the exhibit have connections to the Faculty of Fine Arts. Gagnon also discussed an eight-part Thinking Out Loud (TOL) podcast mini-series about Expo 67 that launched on Wednesday, where she speaks with many of the artists for whom the fair was a creative springboard. New episodes in the Expo series will be released on Wednesdays.

Gagnon is quoted throughout an article in Le Devoir that examines the explosion in interest in cinema and multimedia during Montreal's Expo 67.

She is also quoted in a second, related story in Le Devoir that looks more closely at the "In Search of Expo 67" project.
