Graduate Perspectives is a series of blogposts about the John Molson School of Business graduate programs experience from the perspective of current students and alumni.

This week, Chris Kovalchuk, MBA' 19, tells about his journey from the MBA in Investment Management to the world of portfolio management and accounting standards.

Christopher Kovalchuk earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Financial Reporting in 2016, as well as an MBA in Investment Management in 2019, both from at the John Molson School of Business. He is currently Associate Portfolio Manager at Claret Asset Management, one of Canada’s leading private independent wealth management firms located in Montreal.

Chris tells us about his John Molson experience, including his active involvement in case competitions, for which he continues to act as mentor and coach for student teams that compete locally and globally.

In 2021, he was appointed to the Accounting Standards Board. The appointment demonstrates Chris' interest in how changes to accounting standards can have an impact on a company’s financial results, management discussion and analysis disclosures, and all associated key performance indicators.
